Sergio Garrone Does a Roger Corman William Amazzini | 05/18/2010 (3 out of 5 stars) "I've read the reviews about this film included within this title but they seem to be forgetting one important thing, Mya Communication has given us the opportunity to see a rare title and also it gives us a chance to see Director Sergio Garrone pulling a Roger Corman. When Corman finished 'THE RAVEN'-1963 , he utilized the same sets with Boris Karloff and Jack Nicholson to film 'THE TERROR". Garrone did a film called 'L'AMANTE DEL MOSTRO'(SOUL OF A MONSTER' in 1974 with Klaus Kinski and Katia Christine. It was a mediocre attempt at creating a different variation on the Jekyll/Hyde theme. This film which is titled in Italian 'LA MANO CHE NUTRE LA MORTE'(EVIL FACE) was made the same year with the same actors, costumes and sets and is a much better film. If you have the opportunity to see them back to back, you will be extremely surprised. Yes, the quality is not up to par with their other releases but it is definitly better than an ALPHA release. A tip of the hat should go to Mya for finding this film. The sound is in Italian Mono only with English Subtitles but crisp and clear slightly widescreen. If you are a Euro Horror completist like me, you will welcome this release. You will also get the chance to see a much subdued Kinski performance and over the top Carlo Rimbaldi gore effects. Great fun, give it a chance."
