Movie Reviews

GODANNAR BACK WITH A VENGENCE!!!
Michael Harmon | davis california | 07/14/2006
(4 out of 5 stars)

"First of all, before we get to the beginning, let's get to the ending. Wow! Volume 6 ended with a bang! I didn't see it coming at all. Without giving it all away, the whole thing with the base and the surprise characters at the end was awesome. But back to the beginning. It started slow building character and emotion and then BAM! the action hit and it didnt stop for probably 30 minutes only to take a short break and then start up again and run to the end. Action is great but what made it even better was that the story was moved forward and we found out so much. Much more than the previous volume which although it had our Dannar Base characters in it, they were more backround. It was nice to see them back in the forefront. As a matter of fact, all the stuff they did in the last one was laying groundwork for this one. Also the new songs in this volume were moving and really added to the battles. I hope to hear them again in the next volume but the cirumstances will be different so I doubt that they will have those songs again. Although I really liked this volume, I just can't give it 5 stars. In previous reviews I have said that the english dub and translation is done very well. However, it seemed in this volume like some of the voice actors had just returned from a long break and had forgotten their voices. Luckily it only lasted for a few lines, but I found it very noticable, even after a second viewing. Also the english dub had way too much "harsh" cursing for no reason. It really stood out from the previous volumes. Now I'm not trying to be Mr. Moral, I know there has been cursing before and I feel its been warranted like when Shizuru dies and so forth, but in this volume the language was used to translate words and phrases that have nothing to do with cursing. It was really out of place. That along with extras that gave us videogame clips INSTEAD OF Character, Mechanical, and Beast files was why I thought this disc was 4 stars. Overall This volume was really amazing. Ive watched it 3 times now in Japanese and English. The only preview Ive ever watched was the season 2 preview at the end of volume 3 because I always wanted to go in fresh to the next volume. After the way this volume ended, I threw that rule out the window and watched the volume 7 preview and it does not disappoint!
