Movie Reviews

Could not stop laughing
Tushster | Chicago, IL | 04/18/2005

"I put this movie into my DVD player, and I seriously could not stop laughing from the beginning to the end.

The movie is about three guys who have their own problems and issues to deal with. One day, they receive a wrong number call, but decide to get involved in order to change their lives. What happens after that is pure comedy. Small problems lead to bigger ones, which have hilarious results.

Paresh Rawal does an amazing job, and I think he was the funniest from the entire movie. Akshay Kumar and Sunil Shetty do above average jobs, and do well in the comedy act as well. This movie doesn't have too big of a love story, because it basically revolves around the three of the guys.

I would strongly suggest buying this movie, because it will definitely add some comic relief to your lives. It is one of those movies where you set your brain to the side, and don't think while watching this movie."
A Classic Comedy

"HERA PHERI! This movie is about three men who're trying to find new things to do and often argue with each other. One's a landlord and the other two are tenants.A simple phone call changes their present and future lives.

There are many scenes in this film that have become a part of my memory. Its not like I remember all dialogues. However, the absolute subtlety that the humor is presented is quite bone tickling. I've seen this movie not less than 15-20 times. Cable Television shows this movie around the year as its something noone would ever switch off and say "What the Heck! Not Again"

Believe you me if there was ever a film you can not go wrong with (in Bollywood) then this is it. Its Bollywood's version of Dumb And Dumber but surprisingly is better as its not over intentional in its approach of sounding thunderously funny.

My favourite character in the film, lest you forget is Paresh Rawal(Baabu Bhaiyya) I think this movie was ground breaking in the truest sense of the word.

Please See,Suniel Shetty won't top this performance of his. He's a good guy and all but his real self lies in multi starrer films where he has other actors. He can't ever be a true lead actor.

And if you like this, do try Aakhein which is another classic thriller/comedy/mild drama."
Rib Tickler!

"This movie marked my foray into (and thereafter my love of) Bollywood films when I stumbled across it on a multi-cultural channel and was immediately intrigued; so I sat down to watch the entire flick. Full of rib-tickling situation comedy; I was giggling pretty much all the way through it!

There is a sequel to Hera Pheri (Phir Hera Pheri); if given a choice I'd recommend this one over the sequel which relies too heavily on slapstick (which I just don't find very funny); whereas Hera Pheri relies more on situation comedy.

Sweet, cute humorous family entertainment; highly recommended."
