"In the history of Country Music few performers were as "unique" as Tex Carman. A self proclaimed Indian, Carman played a bizarre fusion of Hawaiian guitar and Southern slide--usually with strange tunings and little respect for any musical conventions. But that is OK because Tex put down some fantastic tunes, including unique versions of "Wildwood Flower" and various Hawaiian songs. These are clips from the televised West Coast Town Hall Party shows. Some of the clips aren't that clear, but what counts is the music and it is great. Plus Tex is backed by some killer musicians including the always magical Joe Maphis. The are some straight ahead country weepers here, and Tex does a good job of singing them--imagine a "less refined" Ernest Tubb. So if you are in the mood for some off beat country (check out the Hawaiian, Indian or whatever language Tex sings in sometimes) this is for you."

"Ey, the reference (ASIN: B0000TG9EM) is wrong and actually refers not to Jenks "Tex" Carman At Town Hall Party but to Town Hall Party November 6, 1954.
Beware or you will end with the wrong DVD (happened to me)"
