Jets!
S. Y. Newton | Lewisburg, PA USA | 04/28/2007
(4 out of 5 stars)

"Bought this four volume set for my son but it is typically a hit with every flight enthusiast that visits our home. The set consists of Thunder, Strike, Fury and Blue Angels.

Jets 1: Thunder consists of classic footage of early jets produced by McDonnell for the Armed Forces. In particular the XF-85 Goblin, XP-67, FH-1 Phantom, F101 Voodoo and F3H - Demon. The DVD ends with a documentary about the first 25 years at McDonnell.

Jets 2: Strike showcases the F-18 Hornet, F15 Eagle, AV8B Harrier,F4 Phantom and F86 Sabre - some of the greatest combat aircraft of our time. There is great footage of landings and take-offs from the deck of carriers.

Jets 3: Fury contains de-classified footage of jets in flight. The jets shown include the F-16 Fighting Falcon, F-117A Stealth F-22 Raptor and JSF(Joint Strike Fighter). The DVD ends with a documentary about the F16.

Jets 1, 2 and 3 are set to original soundtracks by M2K Music. The background music really adds to the thrill of flight. Anyone who loves to fly, wants to fly or just likes jets will watch these DVDs again and again.

Jets 4: Blue Angels is a behind the scenes look at the Blue Angels from a pilot's point of view. The DVD is narrated by John Travolta. It's an interesting and informative film but in comparison to the hard beat driving, jaw dropping footage of Fury and Strike - it's just plain dull. If this DVD was not included in the set, I would have rated it 5 stars.

If you love the Blue Angels but want more flying, less talking - try `The Magic of Flight' an IMAX creation narrated by Tom Selleck.
