Movie Reviews

A set of 2 complete serials featuring John Wayne
Bradley Olson | Bemidji, MN United States | 06/11/2005
(5 out of 5 stars)

"This budget-priced 2 DVD set features the complete Mascot serial "The Shadow of The Eagle" starring John Wayne portraying a pilot for a carnival who must help his boss when he's accused of being "The Eagle," a criminal who has been skywriting threatening messages to an evil corporation. There are elements of comedy at the carnival and a lot of action throughout and the complete "Hurricane Express" serial, also made by Mascot, which features John portraying the son of a murdered engineer on the Hurricane Express, the world's fastest train. His mission is to finish the train's run and capture the murderer who is known as "The Wrecker." This set is essential for any early John Wayne fan and any serial movie fan although it isn't restored on this set, with the finishing touch being the Roan Group's DVD of the complete "Three Musketeers" serial. For the low price listed above, you can get 2 complete serials and that alone is what makes this set released by Diamond Entertainment worthwhile."
