Movie Reviews

First Lacuna Coil DVD
*The Sireness* | USA | 01/25/2009
(3 out of 5 stars)

"If you are a fan of Karmacode this DVD IS FOR YOU. If you hate Karmacode, don't even think about it. That would pretty much sum it up.

In my case I dislike Karmacode with a passion simply because in my ears it sounds like Korn with female vocals. I loathe Korn. But I went out and bought this DVD anyway knowing full well what I was getting.

On disk 1 you have two concerts. Wacken and Loud Park. Both concerts were in fact professionally recorded. The Camera angles are gorgeous. There are no quick flashing camera angles and Cristina is in top form and commanding of her presense. The audio and visuals are superb!

Also on disk 1 are all the music videos to the Karmacode era.

Disk 2 contains extras. This is where the band failed miserably. The extras per band are 3-6 mins longs. Cristina's is the shortest clip of them all. The best of the bands bios is Andrea's and Cristina's. You see them travel to Australia and Japan but at the same time you see nothing. Both tour clips are very short and you get no one on one real connection with any of the members of the band. It's just quick clips.

You also see the making of Closer and Our Truth. Those two clips were very cool to watch and entertaining.

Also the fans sections. Very pointless and waste of space on the disk. There are a few remixes of To The Edge which were okay but useless. Some horribly made fan videos. One containing some stupid chipmunks as Lacuna Coil. Another of some chick showing off her tattoo. I wanted to rip my hair out after seeing those.

It's a descent DVD. 3 stars are for the excellent recording of the lives concerts and for the making of's the music video. But I hope Lacuna Coil's next dvd set has better extras."
Ehhhhh...great show but for some reason I'm not obsessed

"Standard practice for me with concert DVD's is to watch it about a billion times till it makes me sick. In other words, I obsess, cuz its that good. Now don't get me wrong I love Lacuna Coil, they're the first band I ever saw live, and they also put on a great show. The DVD is great too, good concerts, great set lists. I don't know why, but for some reason I haven't even been able to force myself to watch it a second time. I do strongly recommend it for all fans though, I did enjoy watching it a lot, but the experience was somewhat lacking. ehhh..."

"Good dvd, the first one with 2 concerts is very good, dont understand why people dont like the sound here, both concerts sound great at least in my stereo, better then many, but also there are some better sounding.
Scabbia sounds great. but i hope on their next dvd they will have a concert were they are the headliners in some concert hall, rock and metall shows are always better in these surroundings rather then in daylight.the extras on dvd 2 are fine but nothing special but its good if you are fan.
and if you are a fan of Lacuna Coil you wont be dissapointed
Very good new band for me

"I just have gotten my new lacuna coil VISUAL KARMA double DVD, and first, incredible fast delivery, even faster than my others, older, orders (I am just waiting for them), so, I am giving four because the sound in WACKEN 2007 FEST is awful. I have tried DTS, awful, 5.1, O.K. but bad. I never saw LACUNA COIL before, so, I was really excited for watching this DVD, I am kind of disappointed and I think this do not deliverer a good image of the band, for first-time-fans like my, they must pay more attention to this kind of details. In the first try, with DTS, the Cristina Scabia's voice almost disappeared; the sound of every single instrument is forgotten in some bad musical studio because I heard a bad massive-mix of all of them. It is sound like recorded live directly from the audience. I do not know, but it is O.K. I hope they eddit another DVD with better sound and images soon.
In the other hand, some day, somebody ask to my best friend Johnny (R.I.P.) why do you hear hard rock? And he's answer was the best answer I have heard "because of what I feel". Watching this band the feeling is great, and this female vocal with the strong hard rock background it is a very new and a very addictive sensation for me. In addition, Cristina Sacabia is hot, with a very good voice, attitude, and the band it is O.K. I do not want to say more because I do not know too much this band, I want to see more and then I will back to abound in my critics. Finally, I recommend to every fan to have this DVD in one's collection, principally because of the clips and the three different concerts, and of course, to enjoy watching the band.
