Movie ReviewsClassic performance but mediocre sound quality moviemusicbuff | Walnut, CA United States | 08/11/2006 (4 out of 5 stars) "This is a classic live performance by Asia with the line-up of John Wetton, Geoff Downes, Carl Palmer, and Pat Thrall (replacing Steve Howe).
The song set includes: Only Time Will Tell Sole Survivor Cutting It Fine Days Like These Rendezvous The Heat Goes On Book It Saturday Prayin' for a Miracle Go The Smile Has Left Your Eyes Open Your Eyes Heat of the Moment Bonus track: Kari-Anne All the songs are great, from the classic line-up of the band. It also features the wonderful song "Kari-Anne". The main drawback of this DVD is the mediocre sound quality. It is hard to hear the electric guitar work of Pat Thrall. Everything sounds a bit muddy and cloudy, including the bass and drums. Also, Pat Thrall is a competent guitarist whose guitar solos are his own spontaneous playing rather than solos which resemble the studio-recorded versions. On the Live in USA, the guitarist Guthrie Glovan sticks very closely to the solos on the recorded versions. That aside, die-hard Asia fans will really love this performance, despite its flaws. If you want this disc, buy the "Asia -- Ultimate Collection" which includes this performance in Moscow along with the Live performance in Nottingham (the same line-up as Moscow), and the Live in the USA (with the different line-up of John Payne, Geoff Downes, Chris Slade, and Guthrie Glovan). It is much cheaper to buy the Ultimate Collection with all 3 discs, than each Live Performance individually. Great value for the money!" |
