She has to choose between dealing with the pressure to conform and fit in, or being different but mocked and ridiculed.
Although the movie takes place in New Orleans, the story is one that can happen in any city or any society. It had me trying to put myself in the characters shoes, to find that there are no good guys or bad guys, just people whose misunderstanding of each other leads to a lot of heart ache and tragedy. This should be watched with someone you care about, maybe a parent or a child. The musical store greatly adds to the impact of the film" |
