"This dvd with Mark Murphy shows off his scat singing-but it should have been longer.mark is the best vocal jazz male singer around today and when you get a chance to see him on a DVD you want him to be on for more than 20 minutes."
I want more Mark!

"I really was looking forward tot this dvd. As a jazz singer myself in Holland, I am and always will be a great fan of Mark Murphy. Years ago he did a workshop at the Music Conservatory in Holland...and I was one of his students. An amazing experience! And finally I saw this dvd...he swings and sings amazingly! But as much as I like jazz in all its colours and instrumentations, I really like the Condoli Brothers...but as a singer I really was disapointed about his part on this dvd. Mark Murphy deserves a whole dvd!
He is big enough and important enough as a singer.
But folks....WHAT he sings on this dvd.....is fantastic!"
Vintage Murphy at His Best

"This is Mark Murphy at his best. The DVD is taken from two episodes of the 1981 program, Ad Lib, and features Murphy and his trio performing four songs, two each from the albums, Stolen Moments and Bop for Kerouac. This is the closest you can get to hearing these live, around the time they were originally recorded. Another plus is Bill Mays, who was one of the musicians on the latter recording, playing piano and keyboards. The second, non-Murphy, half of each show includes two other musical guests, Pete and Conte Candoli, who are equally wonderful.
Highly recommended for fans of Mark Murphy and the Candoli Brothers, as well as anyone who enjoys great jazz."
Wish there were more Mark.

"Maybe there is a paucity of footage of Murphy, but the manufacturers had to fill out the DVD with more footage of the Candoli brothers than of Mark Murphy, which was the reason I purchased the DVD.
The footage of Mark is very good, however, and if a person is prepared for the small volume of material, it can be quite enjoyable to watch."
