Movie Reviews

If you're a Mazinger/Tranzor Z fan, get this DVD!

"While I was growing up in the early 80s, there was a great anime show on every morning called Tranzor Z. It was based on the anime series Mazinger Z that, at the time, was already about ten years old. For its US release, Mazinger was snipped, cut, and taped back together to much that, from what I understand, it was barely recognizable in the Tranzor Z series (mostly due to the stricter censor standards in the States). The show ran for a year or two and then disappeared from our nation. With the advent of the Internet, I learned Tranzor Z's origins and that it was, in fact, linked to a greater Mazinger saga. The second series, Great Mazinger, involved a more powerful robot and better pilot, and was only seen in horribly added snippets in Tranzor Z. I have waited with baited breath for any sign of the Mazinger series to once again be available in the US without having to pay for expensive imports or video recordings made in 1984.Once I saw Mazinkaiser, I swept it up in an instant. Though it doesn't really follow the storyline from Mazinger Z, Great Mazinger, and beyond, the story does a great job of introducing a new heroic robot into the series, keeps our favorite characters together, and offers the same melodramatic heroism and campy humor I came to know and love in Tranzor Z.If you're a Mazinger or Tranzor fan, get this DVD. And get volume 2 when it comes out in October. I know I will."
A TRUE AWESOME Classic Reborn!

"This dvd/series is totally awesome! I watched every episode at least 2 times when I grew up in Taiwan. This dvd/series brought back lots of good old memories, like most of us, these kind of thing reminds us of our innocent childhood and frankly keeps us forever young in some ways.

Mazinkaiser is the 3rd robot of the series from the original Mazinger or Mazinger Z. The second robot is Great Mazinger or GX-02, which was part of the original ANIME series from the late 70's early 80s era. There is the fat funny robot Boss Borot in this DVD! All 3 mazingers make appearance. Also Arphordai A the original female robot and another female robot named Venus.

In case you didn't know. The Bandai release Mazingers are amazing. Too bad I didnt discover them earlier, so far I have GX-01 Mazinger, GX-02 Great Mazinger, Gx-11 Diana Angel. I missed out on Boss Borot and Garada(the skull head dude with blades).... Couple online shops for Bandai diecast mazinger figures are Imageanime and Heros Club The Art Of Toy(or Chogokin & Tin Toy). Some cool Mazinger HISTORY pages are mazinworld and Mazinger Z page. I urge Mazinger fans to check them out.

Overall this a must buy DVD/series for all Mazinger fans, especially the OG ones. Peace. BTW Getter Robo Armageddon is pretty cool too."

"In 1975 Go Nagai brought Mazinger Z from Manga comics to Anime TV series icon fame. Thirty years later, he continues the Mazinger saga after the success of Getter Robo: Armageddon with Mazinkaiser. Mazinger Z and Great Mazinger team up against Dr. Hell's army of Mechanical Monsters and their situation is grim. Team Mazinger (Boss Borot and Venus Ace) join the action with some comical humor and the arrival of a new and more powerful Mazin robot. The artwork stays true to the original series, but the animation is better than ever. Please Mr. Nagai, bring back Grendizer."
New Rendition of Old School Super-Robot Anime

(5 out of 5 stars)

"Mazinkaiser, successor to both Mazinger Z and Great Mazinger, is a big threat to Dr. Hell's plan to conquer the world. This volume introduces the new powerful Mazin robot. The animation is excellent (more details and smooth animation as expected from an OVA) and the soundtrack enhances the mood of the battle scenes, making them more dramatic. Expect off-beat humor that usually is in most Go Nagai flicks.

This DVD features both Japanese and English audio tracks (English subtitles are available)."
