Movie Reviews

Where's the rest
Scott Schwartz | 07/27/2008
(3 out of 5 stars)

"I am a huge Norway fan, and looked forward to this disc arriving. I was disappointed. While Oslo and Bergen, Grieg's living room and Trolls are all lovely, what makes Norway unchallenged is the glory of the fjords, glaciers, and mountains, and there is a strong under-emphasis of these natural wonders. Yes, there are wildflowers and meadows and close-ups of water flowing over rapids, all to lovely music, but the only fjord seen is one small corner of Sogne for a few moments. As one that tries to recall the glorious scenes of Naeroy, Geiranger, Nord, and Hardanger fjords, and countless more, I felt that the visual selections here were seriously lacking."
Norway-A Musical Tour by Naxos

"This is truly an entertainment investment worth every penny. Music and video were great. Having visited Norway many years ago, I was not disappointed when viewing this dvd. You see natural wonders closeup, something I missed when I traveled by train. The musical moods are tied closely with the visual. Quiet scenes are reflected with soft classical notes, while bold dramatic uptones are played during the cascading waterfalls and rapids. If you enjoy Edvard Grieg, like I do, you will certainly enjoy this musical-video."
