I was really disappointed with this movie. It is not much more than a rude romp with crude language and stupid situations. None of the characters seem to have any intelligence at all, and the constant profanity just wore on me. The plot could have been made interesting and even funny, but the so-called "jokes" in this movie were just thoughtless and crass junk.

The main character has a job of serving subpoena notices to people wanted in court for various reasons (credit collections, divorce, etc.). While on duty, he is sitting outside a house finishing his joint before going to the door to serve the notice. While waiting, he sees a female police officer go into the house and then witnesses the officer and another man shooting an Asian man up against the very large second story windows. He is so frightened that he drops his joint on the ground before he drives away. As it happens, the man involved in the murder happens to be the only supplier of the very rare dope in the joint and starts to hunt him down based on this "Pineapple Express" dope.

We got about 30 minutes into this movie before we gave up on it.

One of the best movies I have ever seen! This is how to make an action movie that keeps my attention. I laughed like crazy so I am sure I caused myself to miss many other funny goings-on as well. This writing/production team keeps upping the ante with their dialog - especially any scene that has Seth Rogen. Ive been a fan since Freaks and Geeks so its grand to see him going somewhere with his talents.

Funniest Movie I've Seen In A Long Time
Gladys Finkelstein | Columbus, Oh | 12/05/2008
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Saw this movie in the theater, and it was funny the whole way through. In my opinion, it wasn't like a normal pot movie, where people that don't smoke wouldn't enjoy it, it is funny for pretty much anyone. It's stupid funny sometimes, dark humor other times, smart and stupid, action and drama (a little bit), but all around hilarious. I laughed so hard I cried, and I felt it for days after--quite the ab workout! Definitely worth the money!"
Funniest Movie of 2008

"I saw this in the theatre and I wasn't high, but I did laugh all the way through, along with the rest of the audience. Probably most hilarious movie I've seen since "The 40-Year Old Virgin." I don't understand why this got shafted by critics' end of the year Top Ten Lists. I saw Tropic Thunder on several of those lists, and in my opinion "Pineapple" was way funnier than Ben Stiller's film. A good time will be had even if you don't smoke weed."
Will make you sick you laugh so hard

"I think some reviewer's miss the point. The writer, director, etc. did everything with this movie that they intented to. They wanted to create a funny movie obviously, but they also wanted to make a point. Seth Rogen's character say's it best when Franco's character is offering him a hit and he doesn't want it, that they are not very functional when they are high and that's why they have got into so much trouble. The movie is funny, so funny I actually made myself sick to my stomach from laughing so hard.

James Franco has played his best part ever in my opinion, the sweet, sometimes a little clueless Saul. Then, sometimes he pulls it all together and you see a flash of the person through the haze of smoke. Endearing to the last line with a great smile. You think he has no idea of what Seth Rogen's character think's about him and then at one point he pull's out a list of everything Seth's character has said and not said, proving he's smarter than he appear's.

Seth Rogen stands out here as well, helped along by great lines and satiric wit. Don't even get me started on Red. He's like a cockroach, he can't be killed.

My favorite scene would have to be when they are in the wood's and freaking out over the forest creature's they think are waiting to get them. It was so hilarious I cried from laughing. But, I won't spoil it.

Best comedy I've seen in years. Recommended."
