Movie Reviews

Great concert, bad quality.

"My Mom bought me this DVD at Wal Mart, as she knows I'm a HUGE Queen fan and knew that I didn't have it. I popped it in and was pretty annoyed at how horrible the sound quality was. The mix is way off. It seems to get better at some points, then gets bad again. The picture quality is only so-so, as well, but it is certainly watchable. I only watched a little bit of it that first day and got annoyed at the bad quality. Well, I put it back in today to give it another chance. I haven't watched the whole show, but what I've seen of it is awesome, despite the bad quality. This is Queen in top form. They all seemed to be having a lot of fun at this show and as Queen fans know, Freddie loved Japan, so he seemed to be REALLY enjoying himself. The highlights for me so far are (keep in mind, I haven't watched ALL of it yet) "Is This The World We Created?," "Bohemian Rhapsody," "I Want To Break Free," and the best part is definitely "Love Of My Life." Seeing the crowd singing pretty much the whole song perfectly in English was just amazing to me. I can't imagine how great this must have made the band feel. So anyway, despite the bad quality, I think this DVD is definitely worth picking up, since it was such a great show. For me, this made up for the bad quality."
Is this official or not?

"The audio quality on this DVD stinks compared with the other official Queen DVDs that have been released. Freddy's voice is drowned out on a lot in the mix and the drums are too prominent. Makes me wonder if this is some unofficial substandard DVD (maybe why it keeps showing up and disappearing again and again)."

"If you are a Queen fan and want this for your collection its okay. But if your looking for a great concert video keep looking. Sound is bad, camera angles are bad,and lighting is bad. I would suggest Queen live at Wembley Stadium. Its too bad that whoever filmed this didn't know how to film a live band. A good Queen concert lost forever."
It's what it is...A TV special

"I was at this show in May of 1985. A couple of weeks later, this is the very program that appeared on one of the Japanese networks. A student of mine recorded it for me. I believe it was produced by that network and as such, was shot multi-camera and edited down very quickly. I have a VHS version of the original TV show and it is the exact same thing, you see here. As such, its about the same quality you would expect from that kind of production: blatant edits for time constraints and not everything sounding mixed correctly."
