The best goddamn 8 string player ever..or at least so far
ramiroquai | Chapel Hill, NC USA | 10/19/2004
(5 out of 5 stars)

"THE CDs IS GREAT, GET IT GET IT NOW.

Ok...i am a big fun of CH music and CH 8 guitar work. So of course i loved the DVD.

I'll be a little objective:
Sound: As good as it gets
Add ins: The angle camera is perfect to understand in a very detail way what the hell is this guy doing with his hands. (and even then you won't be able to get it.) This is a guitar-freak'feature.

Special features: non existant. At least not good features. You have some bios and pics....but you can get that form other sources.
Video: Plays nice. Image is good and you have plenty of cameras and shots to enyoy the perfomance. I didn't like that the show was presented in single performances. It should have been better to leave it with all the talking and geting a little groove out of the crowd.

The real downside of the DVD is the lack of other features like 'the making', an interview or a special feature that could give you and insight about Right Now Move CD or the musicians ' comments about the record and the show.

You get a little conversation at the end credits and it leaves you wanting more. Man you have a freaking chromatics harmonica and 8 string player among the other great musicians, how the hell you would't like to now more about them?

All in all the show is very entretaining. THe best performances were selected. The solo stuff is amazing and the band plays beautifully.

IS a great CD and DVD, Get it. Play it. Enjoy it."
Great Jazz Performance on DVD
Randall Peterson | Austin,TX USA | 02/17/2005

"This is well worth the purchase. Great comping & soloing from Charlie, in his unique style on his custom 8 string guitar. And great performances from the rest of his quintet, as well... sax, trombone, chromatic harmonica, and drum kit. Great group interaction and soloing from all.

As well, the sound quality is great, and the video quality is excellent... deep rich color in 16x9 anamorphic widescreen.

If you like Charlie, thick tasty grooves, or just skillfully played soulful creative jazz (with a little swampy New Orleans R&B overtones)... RIGHT NOW GET THIS!"
Charlie Hunter: Amazing as Always
Trevor J. Hawes | Erie, PA USA | 10/15/2004
(5 out of 5 stars)

"I became a Charlie Hunter fan when a friend introduced us via the album "Bing, Bing, Bing!". This is a very well recorded and arranged DVD; far better than the one released by WNED Buffalo for his 2001 performance at the Tralf during the Buffalo Niagra Guitar Festival (this was a limited release through WNED). Charlie Hunter is truly an innovative guitarist, and this DVD gives you a good look at just how impressive a feat playing an eight-string guitar is. Pick this DVD up...you won't be disappointed."
This is a must rent DVD for any fan of Charlie or his music.

"Charlie Hunter and his quintet puts on a great show with this DVD. It's shot in High Definition and the picture quality is great, along with the music. They get into a bit of free form jazz, and Charlie opens it upn with a 4 or 5 song solo. Charlie is unusual in that he plays the 8 string Novak, which has 3 bass strings and 5 guitar. To see him play this simualtaneously is incredible to watch, and he is one of the best jazz musicians today. If you like funky style jazz and wish see this guy play, then rent this one now. Charlie gets his groove on with the quintet.
