INCREDIBLE ADVENTURE -- NOTHING LIKE IT

"If you like armchair adventures, don't miss this extraordinary documentary.
This is an unforgettable trip into an alternate universe that exists parallel to the so-called civilized world that we think we live in. I saw this years ago when it was on PBS. I have thought about it many times in the intervening years and had given up on ever finding it in DVD. I can't recommend RING OF FIRE too highly. Don't miss this collection. It is as good as it gets.
I wonder how much of this region remains as it was photographed? If it is lost as I fear, then this cinematic record is even more valuable."

"My husband saw one of the films from the series on TV and we got the complete package not too long ago. Wonderful photography, exotic landscapes and the people who seem to live in a completely different age. If you've always wanted to travel and learn about the world - this is the cheapest way to do so. And the safest as we realized after watching what the Blair brothers went through on their multiple journeys. In my opinion, it's a treasure dvd."
Classic adventure travels

"Saw this when it appeared on PBS back in the 1980s and later read the companion book. Loved both, mainly for the style of narration used and the sense of real adventure these works managed to preserve. The film stock is pretty rough by today's standards, but time changes everything and these capture the zeitgeist of their time and place -- and such exotic places! I wish Lorne Blair would hurry up and reincarnate.
I also wish National Geographic would get around to republishing "Bali: masterpiece of the Gods" on DVD..."
