"This is one of Eric Stoltz's earliest known film roles.Eric Stoltz had previously starred in Fast Times At Ridgemont High in 1982. It was his work in that film that earned him a starring role in Running Hot. I don't recall why I wanted to see this in theaters years ago. I think I went to see another B- flick & I saw a poster or a preview trailer for Running Hot. Strangest thing of all is I paid my money to watch the show & then I couldn't recall anything about it! Until now when the dvd came out. After viewing the dvd extras I see in the photo gallery that this movie was released on vhs under 3 other titles(Lucky 13 Highway To Hell & On The Run). When you hit the play option to watch the movie there's a brief intro by director Mark Griffiths. He says he directed the film Lucky 13 in 1983. After you watch the intro the movie begins playing. The title on the film is Lucky 13. But the title used on the dvd disc & the case label is Running Hot. The story is very simple. Robert Daniel Hicks Jr.has been found guilty of murdering his father. He manages to escape on his way to prison. Next Danny shows up at his girlfriend Charlene's (played by Monica Carrico) apartment. After they spend a few hours together they are on the run from the police. The only scene I recall well is the chapter stop titled Skinny Dip. While I consider this scene very funny the language used is a bit vulgar & offensive. In fact, it's demeaning belittling & very insulting. Originally I had rated this dvd 4 stars. Now I've reduced it to 3 because of the language in this one scene. I don't know how it got past the board of censors. Anyway the movie has no real action packed scenes. Not until about 10 minutes before the conclusion. On the plus side picture & sound quality are excellent. It's a decent thriller that's worth another look. A huge thank you to Code Red Releasing for putting this one out!"
