Finally, Rhymesayers on DVD!

"I've been searching for a DVD with the likes of Atmosphere, Brother Ali and Eyedea & Abilities for awhile now. This DVD, spanning nearly 3 hours, exceeds all of my expectations. On one side of the DVD, you have the Rhymesayers' 10th Anniversary concert (no battling). The highlight of the concert is the 50 minute Atmosphere set (along with Murs for most of the set). Slug is so intimate with his audience in concert, making it a real treat. Eyedea shows everyone what's up with his mad skills on the mic, flowing tongue twisting rhymes just as fast as some of the material on E & A (2004). MF Doom also had one of the longer sets, since he has some mad rhyme spitting talent. I wish they would have shown more of the Brother Ali set, since he only gets one song.

The other side of the DVD has a ton of great stuff. B-Boy battles, DJ Battles, MC battles, beatbox battles and a graffiti expose. This is my first experience with all these things, except for the DJ battle section. It's amazing that these guys can think up these slams at the drop of a hat. It is definitely the height of slit-second presentation.

If you are into underground hip-hop, this DVD is essential watching. Make all of your idiot pop-rap friends watch it, just so they know that Eminem isn't the best rapper out there (by a long shot). Scribble Jam Magazine tags this DVD as "THE MOST COMPLETE COVERAGE OF ANY SCRIBBLE JAM EVER!" And after all my research, I can say that that is correct.

"After a recent trip to the local record store. Looking thru the DVD section and behold what do I find...Scribble Jam Vol. 7. This was a no brainer for me to buy it. The double sided disc containing the Rhymesayers 10th Anniversary Concert(this was a real treat for me since I have always been wanting to see the Rhymesayers label artists in concert, this is the next best thing). Of course, my favorite portion of the concert was the close to an hour Atmosphere set...Slug knows how to hype up a crowd. The second longest set came from MF Doom(always a treat)I was kind of disappointed that Brother Ali only performed one song(or at least that's what the DVD showed). I was really looking forward to see more of Ali perform. The second side of the disc is the actual jam battles consisting of the DJ battle, MC battle, B-Boy battle, beatbox battle and graf expo. As Slug and others refer to it in the DVD's interviews...this is taking it back to the roots of hip hop and the only show that does that. A treat for the Midwest and a definite for underground heads."
