"Carol Dickman's Seated Yoga - Simple Stretches
& Yoga Techniques You Can Do On A Chair
The Seated Yoga workout is 43 minutes long. It begins with a warm-up, goes on to breathing exercises, gentle yoga postures, and relaxation. This CD is very easy to follow. The instructions are clear and the pace is good. The liner notes mention that the workout is "Well-suited for seniors, the physically challenged, the blind - anyone wanting gentle exercise."
I was surprised at the full yoga stretch that I got from this seated workout. The first time I did the workout, I began in a tense mood. My breathing was shallow and my neck hurt. About ten minutes into Seated Yoga, I noticed a soothing warmth spreading in my abdomen, where I usually harbor butterflies. By the end of the workout, my muscles were warm and relaxed. My breathing was deep. My thoughts were calmer and I felt more centered.
Among the yoga postures, the movement through the torso was a pleasant surprise. The modified form of the fountain and the extremely gentle twist were a particular blessing to my jangled nerves. The relaxation sequence at the end brought my body into harmony and repose.
All in all, I'm delighted with Seated Yoga and recommend it highly.
