Movie Reviews

Average kung fu movie, at best

"Don Wong Tao(Secret Rivals) stars as a cop who has a secret document and everybody tries to kill him. This movie is sad since it tries so hard to be a Lee Tso-Nan kind of movie. While it does manage to make sense all the way through, that doesn't stop it from being nothing that we haven't seen before and very boring. It is great to see Li-Yi-min as Wong Tao's friend and while the kung fu is good all the way throughout the movie, it becomes too repetitive and kind of boring. Chang Yi shows up as the Silver Fox at the end for his only action sequence and it is a good one. The twist at the end didn't exactly make it a great movie or anything but does lead to a good fight.

I am really stuck between a 2 and 3 but because of Chen Sing appearing at the beginning and then again a little later on looking very sinister, though he does no fighting what so ever in this movie. He has a really weird crystal that is like imbedded into his fist that we see at the beginning but we never see him fight, in fact after his 2 scenes in the movie, he doesn't show up again. The only explanation I have is this is a cut version and that could also explain why the story istn't very well done. Another great release from the masters of putting out horrible versions of great movies, thanks Video Asia.

Picture quality is standard Video Asia quality, full screened and bad quality but still watchable. There is also a short and sweet kung fu demonstration from Hsiao Ho(Mad Monkey Kung Fu) and also a good interview with him."
