Singing In The Saddle contains the following four films....

Oh, Susanna!

In this musical western, Gene Autry runs afoul with masked robbers. Wolf Benson, a man fleeing the law, throws Autry from a speeding train and subsequently assumes his identity. Autry is blamed and jailed for Benson's crimes committed while posing as Autry. His friends break him out and the three head out to clear Autry of the murder charge and bring the robbers to justice. (95 Mins. - 1937)

Three In The Saddle

Greedy stage-line proprietor John Rankin (Edward Howard) and his outlaw gang are after Peggy Barlow's Tin Cup Ranch which she refuses to sell. Meanwhile, Tex Haines (Tex Ritter) is accused of killing one of Rankin's bodyguards, but he eludes capture long enough to meet up with Dave Wyatt (Dave O'Brien) and Panhandle Perkins (Guy Wilkerson), a couple of Texas Rangers in disguise. Despite constant argument about taking the law into one's own hands, the three work together in an attempt to prevent Rankin from evicting Peggy. (55 mins. - 1944)

Bells Of Rosarita

Roy Rogers, appropriately cast as a cowboy star, invariably rescues the heroine from the villain in his movie vehicles. But when Sue Farnum (Dale Evans) inherits a circus, she finds herself being cheated out of her inheritance by her deceased father's duplicitous business partner (Grant Withers). Rogers suddenly discovers that real life isn't like the movies. In order to rescue this genuine damsel in distress, Rogers enlists the aid of his fellow sage-brush stars to put on a show and try to catch the bad guys. So well-received was the cinematic "hero rally" that the device was repeated again and again in future films. (54 mins. - 1945)

Springtime In The Rockies

Gene (Gene Autry) is the foreman of a ranch under new ownership, though he soon has his doubts about his new boss - Sandra Knight (Polly Rowles), a pretty young woman fresh from getting her college degree in animal husbandry but with the practical experience of life on the range. When Sandra decides to raise sheep instead of cattle, it doesn't settle with the neighboring ranchers, and Gene is forced to make peace. Autry performs a handful of songs with Jimmy LeFuer and his Saddle Pals providing accompaniment. ( 60 mins. - 1937)

"The SINGING IN THE SADDLE 4 Movie Pack consists of hour-length cowboy/musicals once popular at Saturday afternoon matinees back in the 1930s and '40s.

BELLS OF ROSARITA-- Dale Evans inherits a circus but the partner she also inherited wants it all for himself. Roy Rogers and other western stars are making a movie at the circus and they all come to Dale's aid by staging a show AND catching the bad guys. Included in an enormous cast is Allan Lane, whose last role was the voice of Mr. Ed, the talking horse of 1960s TV.

OH, SUSANNA!-- A bad guy throws Gene Autry off a train, assumes his identity and murders Gene's friend. After Gene is jailed, Frog and the Professor help him escape, and the three set out to prove that he's innocent.

SPRINGTIME IN THE ROCKIES-- College girl intends to raise sheep on her inherited cattle country ranch. Foreman Gene Autry must deal with hassles from local cattlemen and stop one of them from tricking his new boss into selling the spread. Watch for George Montgomery in only his second screen appearance, as a cowboy at the dance.

THREE IN THE SADDLE-- One of the "Texas Rangers" series. An outlaw gang wants to take over the Tin Cup Ranch, and Tex Ritter (as Tex Haines) is willing to use illegal means to stop them.

More singing cowboy fun is available on the GENE AUTRY 10 Movie Pack, THE TEX RITTER ROUNDUP (15 films) and the ROY ROGERS 20 Movie Pack.

BRENTWOOD's 4-fers are nicely priced movie bundles. Video and sound quality of these digitally unrestored public domain films is generally fine. Discs are dual-side recorded.
