Dissapointing - No drummer.....!!

"For me this is DVD is a big dissapointment. Sting uses programmed backing tracks for drums (instead of a live drummer). The absense of a live drummer for me is a missing ingredient from the recipe of what is usually a great musically and visually entertaining show. As a drummer myself I was a bit dismayed to hear Sting utter the words that "Drums get in the way of the music/song"....!! The quality of the recording is of the usual extremely good standard but had I known in advance from a review (or even from the DVD cover) that a live drummer was nowhere to be seen (or heard) I probably would not have even purchased this DVD - for you drummers out there there's no Manu or Vinnie on this one.....!!"
A GREAT LOOK AT A GREAT ARTIST

"When other artists talk about who they're listening to, Sting always makes their list. After watching this DVD of live performances in front of a studio audience and jam sessions at his home, it's easy to see why. The lyrics are spiritually thoughtful while his arrangements are beautiful with jazz and eastern influences. The DVD also features an unexpected duet with Mary J. Blige (Whenever I Say Your Name). "Inside the Songs of Sacred Love" proves to be a great showcase for his other band members and provides an interesting look at all of the masterful talent behind Sting. I must add though, that after hearing the live tracks on the DVD, I ran out and purchased the CD so I could continue listening in my car, but I was a bit disappointed. There's definitely something to be said for the energy of the live performances and the soul stirring back-up vocals of Joy Rose which are featured more prominently on the DVD and are sorely missed on the CD.Overall, I highly recommend it. If you're not a Sting fan, you'll become one."
