Video Not for Everyone

"I bought this video after rupturing a disc in my lower back. I was unable to do any of the exercises, as they caused me further discomfort. I would not recommend this video to anyone who has moderate to severe back pain because the exercises are too advanced for a person in this condition. However, if you are almost recovered from a back problem, or are only experiencing mild back pain, this video will teach you exercises to help improve your muscle strength. It also offers some very simplistic "how-to's" for daily activities such as bending, loading the dishwasher, etc., in a way that will not reinjure your back. These tips are really common sense ideas that will not greatly benefit anyone who is already living with back pain. Finally, I was disappointed by the video quality--it looks as if it were filmed by a low-end home video camera."
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!

"This is a great learning tool for people with back problems. I have herniated discs in both my neck and lower back from an accident. I had difficulty walking and moving my neck. After 11 months of specialists trying different things from drugs, P.T. to steriod injections, I picked up this tape...I had just started seeing a neurologist, who reviewed the exercises and approved them...suggesting I start SLOWLY and also suggesting that I enroll in a water aerobics class. I can now do things I used to do, that I couldn't even think about doing after the accident. Note: it is very important that you do the exercises in the order given on the tape...I found that it was a progressive type exercise/strengthening program; and, if I did it in a different order, I did seem to hurt more afterwards. I can't say enough about how much I appreciate this (along with H2O aerobics) which helped me deal with my injuries. Also note: it won't give you instant relief...I did the program along with H2O aerobics for 2 years...before I could get back to a somewhat "normal lifestyle" I did see improvement little by little throughout that time...but, there is NO "quick fix". When you have a back injury, it's up to you to strengthen the muscles to support the spine and discs. It's not a cure....but, doing the exercises does help strengthen the muscles around the discs which provides some pain relief and gives you more mobility. This tape also includes a section about how to do everyday tasks differently, to prevent "flare ups." HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!"
Virtual immediate relief from lower back pain .

"I had lower back surgery 5 years ago (herniated disc) with ensuing stiffness and recent shooting pain. In two sessions following Dr. Lamberti's excercise routine my back feels better than it has in years. The shooting pain is gone as is most of the stiffness. I also endorse the section of the video identifying the everyday movements that create back problems and how to avoid them. I strongly recommend this video to back pain sufferers."
A medical lecture that wasn't boring!

"I'm a massage therapist & rented this to learn more & also for my mother who has a car accident in the past.
The recommendations for getting in/out of the car, picking things up, bending down, loading the diswasher, pilllow/sleeping use, getting ready in the morning when using using the mirror, using the computer, phone, grabbing things, back supports & slings, etc., was great. They used great actors & props to show the incorrect & correct ways.
The exercises & stretches were very basic, though some may be advanced. You should always listen to your body, if it hurts, see if you can modify it, if it still hurts, don't do it & try other stretches & exercises.
The point of this DVD is that it's the little things that make chronic neck & backaches hurt, not that one-time bend.
The exercises & stretches is to remind people that it's because your back is WEAK that it hurts, not from overuse, just incorrect use. You will never get better if you never stretch or exercise daily with careful awareness of what you are doing, not going too far & knowing different days you will be able to go more advanced & other days you will not be able to do as well as you had & that's ok.
Of course, for anyone with an injury from a car accident, your pain is not chronic, but it can get better with stretching & exercising. There are a lot more ways to stretch then what was shown here, I wish there were more.
I was surprised she showed how to do crunches. Making the abs stronger is important, but there are better ways to strengthen your abs without using your neck like that.
After the exercises, there is even a lengthy meditation/stress reduction tutorial.
I have never had a backache for more then a few hours or a day in which case I immediately stretch, but then again, I have been doing yoga for many years.
I agree this DVD reminded me of old VHS lectures in it's style, but it was clear & does have the option of 5.1 dolby."
