Reviewed on 2/11/2011...
Instructor Moira Stott-Merrithew began her career as a ballerina with the City Ballet of Toronto, and later studied Pilates with Romana Kryzanowska. When a neck injury forced her to adapt her practice by modifying some postures and exercises, she developed what is now known as Stott Pilates. With an emphasis on spine stabilization, her system combines traditional exercise with Pilates, working with the natural curve of the spine in a neutral that improves core strength while toning the entire body. She incorporates a latex band into a series of floor exercises. She has developed a wide following with her many instructional videos.
