"Vice President Harry Truman was thrust into the Presidency upon the sudden death of Franklin Roosevelt on April 12th, 1945. Truman carried out FDR's war plans (victory over Germany had occurred only four days earlier). He made the tough decision to deploy atomic bombs against the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, which brought WWII to an end in Aug. '45. Truman's acceptance of Japan's surrender is here, as are many other memorable events of his controversial presidency.
Also recommended is FRANKLIN DELANO ROOSEVELT: President of the 20th Century. It contains sound and video highlights of 29 FDR speeches.
