Movie Reviews

Good DVD for Thin Lizzy fans
Michael | Australia | 03/16/2006
(3 out of 5 stars)

"This DVD has all the hits with some live performances mixed in. The quality of the live footage is average but what can you expect from the seventies. All the film clips have clear footage and the sound quality is awesome. I bought this DVD to see John Sykes playing guitar but he's only on one track - Thunder and Lightning (Live). Thin Lizzy have just released a live DVD called Thunder and Lightning which is an entire show of their final tour featuring John Sykes on guitar. I would recommend that DVD for all Thin Lizzy and Sykes fans. The picture and sound quality is average but at least it's an entire show. Here's the track listing for the Greatest Hits DVD: The boys are back in town, Don't believe a word (live), Dancing in the moonlight (live), Rosalie (live), Waiting for an alibi, Do anything that you want, Sarah, Chinatown, Killer on the loose, Thunder and Lightning (live), Bad reputation (live), King's call, The rocker, With love, Dear miss lonely hearts, That woman (live), Johnny the fox, Wild one, Whiskey in the jar."
DISAPPOINTING !

"The boys are back in town in their latest greatest hits DVD or are they? This DVD contains a mix of "Thin Lizzy" music video's and live performances with varying levels of quality. The Dolby Digital 5.1 audio is pretty strong and it seems the studio made an effort to clean it up, but the video portion is no better than a bootleg video at best. Most of the live segments are barely watchable and I was very disappointed at the lack of video quality from Mercury / Universal Studios for this release. I've always been a fan of "Thin Lizzy and still haven't found a great concert DVD of them. If this is supposed to be a greatest hits DVD, why wasn't Jailbreak included?

Great Lizzy video

"I saw Thin Lizzy for the Chinatown tour in Europe in the early eighties. I didn't even know these videos existed. This dvd is worth every penny. I might even buy another for a friend, since its at such a good price. Still waiting for that rock masters dvd though. I'm not really interested in those rockumentary dvds just wanna see some rockin"
A Warning: Pretty Good But Could Be Better

"There are only 2 true live tracks on here, Rosalie and Thunder and Lightning, the rest are promos, so be warned. Cool stuff for sure overall. Also where's the Jailbreak promo/TotPs performance and Out in the Fields w/ Gary Moore that were on the Dedication vhs? Worth owning. Now can we have the Live and Dangerous footage!"
