Movie Reviews

Amusing, catchy songs for toddlers
Safiyya N. | Alexandria, VA United States | 04/30/2007
(3 out of 5 stars)

"OK, first of all, I will say that some of the songs are really annoying. Any of the songs featuring "Rosabelle and Tansy" irritate me completely, because I can't STAND it when adults sing in fake little-kid voices.

That said, I do really love several of the songs on this DVD. My three year old is well on his way to memorizing the first song, about Joe, who works in a button factory. He also loves "Do your ears hang low?" (although it's sung by the above-mentioned Rosabelle and Tansy, so I have to just grit my teeth) and I must've watched the one called "Mrs. Murphy's Chowder" six times, just because it's so darn catchy. For some reason, I don't remember most of these songs from MY childhood, although my Mother remembers Chickery Chick from hers... in the 1940's!

The copy I have doesn't have closed captions, which would be a good addition, since some of the lyrics are strange and hard to make out. The copy I have is from the library, though; Amazon says that their copy DOES have captions. I'm ordering it today."
