The "Maximum Overdrive" made-for-tv-rip-off you never knew about! Trucks is a 1997 Canadian and American film based on Stephen King's short story "Trucks". Incidentally, Maximum Overdrive is the only film of his directed by King himself. In that film a passing comet causes the mayhem. In "Trucks" it appears to be some sort of chemical spill? So, there you go. A ridiculous premise as the causal factor for vehicles developing intelligence, moving of their own accord, exhibiting threatening behavior, communicating in packs, and eliciting executionary diligence. For mindless drivel and extraneous incarnadine carnage, this show provided much entertainment value. I found myself chuckling quite a bit and didn't mind it at all.

I'd much enjoyed Brenda Bakke's character Selena Coombs in American Gothic, Shaun Cassidy's canceled masterpiece. It was nice to see her again here. If you're a King completist, well, then you must own this movie, where it'll sit on your shelf, staring at you for years, until, of course, a comet passes by or chemical spill occurs...

This movie should fall into Stephen King's shame horror film box. I should have sped watched it but left it running while I worked and it was very painful to hear and see every once in a while what was going on. The whole concept of a driverless truck was ridiculous. Christine made alot of sense as did "The Car" but this fell short.
