Movie Reviews

This DVD would've gotten five stars....
Sam D. Harken | Waterloo, IA USA | 12/02/2004
(3 out of 5 stars)

"....had the videos not been censored. This decision by Trustkill to do this truly baffles me. These are their artists...and the albums they release aren't censored...so it seems like an odd play. Had this been an MTV Headbanger's Ball Video DVD, I would've understood the censoring (it still isn't an excuse, as censorship is lame--but I digress)...but not a release that comes from the record label. Truly disappointing.

HOWEVER...the videos are really cool...and feature some really awesome bands...

- Bleeding Through
- Throwdown
- Poison the Well
- Eighteen Visions

....and many more.

You can do a play-all feature that plays all the videos straight through...and there are also nice intros by one of the head honchos from Trustkill. These intros are neat, as they give insight to the inspirations for the videos and the antics that took place during the shooting of the videos (one such antic that springs to mind is how the "Fight Club-inspired" Throwdown video shoot resulted in alot of injuries...as the guys were literally hitting each-other. Apparently, one of the dudes broke his entire hand after punching a bigger dude in the face. Ouch.)

They also include the trailers for the Hellfest DVDs and the trailer for the New England Metalcore DVD...along with some live clips from all three releases. If you don't have these DVDs already, it's a nice little bonus. If you do, it'll feel repetitive...but cool, nonetheless.

All in all, a cool DVD...that I would recommend...but I can only give it a subdued recommendation due to the censoring. Had it not been censored, this would've been an even more incredible experience.

Thanks for reading. Rock on."
