Fantastic band, fantastic concert.

"Oh wow! Finally today I got this live concert dvd from one of my absolute all time favorite bands. Paul Brochu, Michel Cusson, Alain Caron. They were the members of this magic team of Uzeb, the most amazing fusion band (in the period between Weather Report and Tribal Tech for what I am concerned) that ever recorded in the style. Unfortunatly they disbanded some years ago and none of them, even if they continued their musical careers, never reached again the level of musicianship and composing they had accomplished here. This one is the video recording of the last concert they did in Montreal in the early nineties. The program is more or less the same you can find in the fabolous double cd live album World Tour 90 (which I highly suggest) and it is highly entertaining and stellar under any point of view. The writing work is extremely high. The music is a sort of Davisesque Jazzy music, with that open use of space and pedals, mixed with a lot of funk (thanxs to the wonderful basswork from Alain Caron) bebop solos (again Alain Caron gave here something to remember, some unbelievably lyrical bass solos) and a lot of Van Halenesque shred guitar! Oh my friend, this mix is exactly something that could make me go crazy for! The Jazz harmonic sophistication, he pulse of swing here and there, the mechanical perfection of bebop, the excitement and the syncopation of funky bass pedals, the beauty of some standard progressions, the complexities of a modern drum work, the subletlies of the synth guitar and the marvellous Van Halen inventions of the modern electric guitar language. Almost all the things that I love in music all provided by a single band of extremely talented musicians through a splendid jazz fusion repertoire. They were really great and I'm really happy to finally own this piece of music history. Seeing them perform these tunes I loved for so many years is really fantastic! You can find a couple of tunes from this recording on YouTube check them out so you'll have an idea. Check out Blue'n'green very original interpretation! (even if an hortodox one ... ) Oh how great they were. The dvd is very well recorded. The camera work accurate, the sound satisfying and all in all something you can't miss if you love music. I love Uzeb! Through this concert you'll find yourself loving them too I guess! Buy it with confidence.

"This DVD was FANTASTIC. If you know anything about UZEB you will love it. Too bad they couldn't make it any further in the USA...too hard to pidgion hold them...they are awsome musicians with a big sound. Good production on this DVD to."

"But... I've seen them in more spirited performances (Montreal Jazz Festival on BET). The trumpet player is an interesting addition, but I was hoping the DVD would just be the core band. Still, they were a great band."
