Beyond swell

"i have been a fan of voivod since the very beginning so this DVD is a real treat for someone like me. all of their videos are here. from 'voivod' through 'astronomy'; some of which i had never seen before, some i hadn't seen in years, yet were definitely as cool as i remembered ('psychic vacuum' ferinstance is pretty psychedelic). there is some awesome live footage of the band including a live version of 'fredoom' from the 'angel rat' album. this was a real nice bonus for me because 'angel rat' from which the song comes is one of my favorite albums by any artist ever. the musicianship presented here is always splendid, original and in many ways, wholly unique. piggy's (r.i.p.) approach to the guitar is out of this world. it is wonderful to see him totally dominate his instrument, especially on the studio footage of him recording guitar parts for the song 'the unknown knows'. blacky and away created the best rhythm section i would ever see live. snake was a charismatic frontman, to say the least. there are some really nice bonuses too (live audio of shows remastered by piggy and aways artwork) this DVD is highly recommended for voivodians and anyone wanting a glimps at the very best music of a band pushing the boundaries of hardcore/thrash metal genre."
Purchased cautiously, but very pleased.

"I read the other reviews, especially the more critical ones complaing about the menu system & lack of 5.1. The negative press made me a little cautious, but I love Voivod to much to let a few poor reviews keep me away. I am very grateful to say that while there is no "play all" feature on the menu when watching the music videos, you don't need it. The DVD automatically plays all the videos. I was not taken back to a main menu and forced to make another selection. Perhaps the other user needs a new copy of the DVD or a new DVD player. I'm using the Toshiba HD DVD A1 player. About the 5.1 audio, my DVD simply states Dolby Digital. There is no claim of 5.1 or even stereo sound anywhere to be found on the box. I'm using a Harmon Karden AVR 145 receiver and just to be safe I selected Dolby Pro Logic 2 before listening and viola, Voivod in 5.1

This was a great investment. I am very pleased."

"I saw Voivod's first video on Mtv Headbanger's Ball sometime in either summer or fall of 1986. I caught the middle part of it when I came back after channel surfing during a commercial between breaks. At the end I caught the Band name Voivod and the album "Dimension Hatross". It played only a couple times after that and then they (Voivod) released Angel Rat with its video - it was the Clouds video I think - I dont have the album right here as I'm typing this - it was featured on Mtv's "Smash or Trash" segment ( it must have trashed).
The music from the first video was "it" is what I'm trying to say . Had all the elements of what in the past years has been labeled Nu-metal but done correct and way before the term . This was on par with the Melvins "Stoner Witch " album.I've been looking for it since 1996 and now it's great to see not only the song but the video too. Five stars"
