Movie Reviews

Reduced to tears of joy!
Linda McDougall | Guanajuato, Mexico | 05/29/2009
(5 out of 5 stars)

"If there's anything negative to say about this film, it's that it doesn't come complete with a giant box of kleenex.
There's little to say that those extraordinarily compassionate, intelligent humanists Edward Said and Daniel Barenboim haven't manifested through the voice of music. My own emotion rises not from any sentimentality associated with the film, but simply through the honest, courageous and determined way
these two men joined forces to show how people who are supposed to hate one another are all united under the power of classical music.Hats off to all those talented young musicians from both Israel and Arab countries who overcame their fear and crossed into Ramallah with Barenboim to stun a wildly enthusiatic audience.

With Paul Smaczny of EuroArts in charge, once again we can see that this producer, who, along with Maria Stodmeier, recently created "El sistema"on the highly successful Venezuelan project created by visionary José Antonio Abreu, is a true ambassador a most spiritual truth: real communication between people. His many films on music are pure works of art and I believe he has done a great service for mankind. Even his documentary on Claudio Abbado, for example, emphasizes the maestro's plea for people to listen to one another.
There's no need to explain Barenboim and Said's beautiful vision here - just let's say BUY THE FILM, and let the uniting power of music put you also in accord with the principle that we are all ONE."
