What a wonderful discovery - I was so thrilled with this dvd I bought several copies to give as gift. The story: Juliet Binoche plays a private school art teacher suffering from rheumatoid arthritis, and keeping men at a distance. Clive Barnes plays a in-the-process-of-becoming-alcoholic English teacher who is attracted to her when she arrives at school, and challenges her. She believes that a picture is worth a thousand words; he believes that words are superior and far more important than pictures. Soon, they involve the students in this controversy, preparing a competition and presentation in the school auditorium to determine which is more important and influential - words or pictures. In the process, they connect and disconnect and connect again, each growing in the process. This is a really substantial which also includes the director's commentary for the entire picture. Highly recommended.
