Movie Reviews

Great Addition to Video Library

"We received the Brain Candy senses videos as a gift for our just 2 year old son. We were thrilled to have something new and different to get us through the witching hour right before dinner time. One of the wonderful things about the Brain Candy videos is that it was also of great interest to our 6 year old while still entertaining our 2 year old for the whole length of the video. Finding something that will entertain both children is always challenging.

Each video has the same overall sequence of chapters and does a good job of tying all of the videos together. There is plenty of fun music, great dancing and creative energy. The kids love to get up and dance when the cast is dancing and working with their props. In the Taste video, Mojo makes the kids laugh. It encourages the kids to explore the world around them and there is a good mix of outdoor scenes and working/ playing in the house. Both kids like to follow the instructions that are simple enough yet fun and act out the kids in the video are doing. There is plenty of educational information tucked into this visually stimulating, well organized and fun video.
This video and series makes a great addition to any children's video library and can be appreciated by a wide age group.
Highly recommended - so so great

"My 23 month old received the whole Baby Einstein series as a baby shower gift and we were excited at the time. many months later we tossed one of the initial DVDs in the player and were curious, perplexed and ultimately, underwhelmed by the ambient scenes and non-interactive nature of the programs.

We received this set of Braincandy discs as a gift and decided to give the whole learning DVD thing another chance. thank goodness. my daughter took about 5 minutes before she was playing peek-a-boo with the on-screen kids and copying the animal noises. While the 'braincandy song' that reappears throughout the series and within the episodes becomes burned on your brain after a while... it is only because my daughter wants them first thing in the morning and the last thing before bath. Another refreshing element to the series is the "get up and dance" 3 minute segments that appear every 15-20 minutes or so. All in all, I like that these DVDs engage, educate, and facinate my daughter if and when I need 5mins to prepare a meal or get an email or two off. kudos to the braincandy team - any more in the works?

"We have 3 of the Braincandy DVDs now, and love them all. My 2 year old is completely entranced, and he truly is learning from them. We don't expose him to a lot of children's programming, but these are wonderful, and what's more, my husband and I love them too!"
