Extraordinary Concert in a Beautiful Setting
Thomas Cannold | 02/24/2006
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Whenever I need to feel rejeuvenated, this is the disc I reach for.

Muscially, I think it's the best performance -- live or otherwise -- Mr. Loggins has released. His voice is in top form, he's connected to the material, and though the band isn't as elaborate as the one he assembled on the "Redwoods" DVD, the passion of this group is extraordinary (particularly percussionists Vicki Randle and Kevin Ricard.)

And, there's a quality to this concert that goes beyond the music. You can't underestimate the physical beauty of the Grand Canyon setting, or the mystical nature and emotional feel it adds to the performance.

Whenever life gets tough, whenever I need a good cry, whenever I want to be reassured, or be inspired to make my life and the world a little better, this disc is my starting point."
Without sounding cliche, "A must for Kenny Loggins fans!"

"I have seen Kenny in concert four times in three different venues. This video gives you the feel of seeing him live and you get to enjoy the beauty of the Grand Canyon at the same time. As usual, his band is wonderful."
Live at the Grand Canyon

"Although I was familiar with a few of the songs Kenny Loggins had recorded throughout his career, this concert video was my first real introduction to the overall breadth of his music and his consumate performance ability. This video serves as an anthology of his best-loved songs from past to present, and is unequivocally the best concert music video I've seen to date. Kenny is backed not only by excellent physicians, but also with the spectacular surroundings of the Grand Canyon. Because of this video, I am a big Kenny Loggins fan. There is much more depth than one might expect if the extent of your appreciation is based solely on his movie soundtracks.Incidentally, his live concert was the best I've ever been to, and I've seen most of the major acts over the past twenty years.I highly recommend this video to any Kenny Loggins fan who hasn't seen it, or anyone who enjoys this genre. This video precedes Outside the Redwoods which is a very similar concert. Live at the Grand Canyon is better overall, but the Redwoods video has some nice features which include a guest performance by Michael McDonald, in addition to Chris Rodriguez and a nice encore performance of "Forever.""
It's a close call ...

"Yes, I'd agree this live show is better then the "Redwoods" that's also still available. The band is tighter musically then the Redwoods concert and did a great job. That's not to say the other is bad ... but I'd much prefer this show. Now, I can't say it's 'better' than the "Kenny Loggins - Alive' DVD simply because I LOVED Kenny's rockers on 'Alive', which was just 'smokin' hot!' BUT of course we are getting a bit older too and we're talking about a '20 year' spread of time. haha! The Grand Canyon concert is a good buy, tight band, and great percussion.
