A Great Movie based true tall tale that was actually true. Slow burn plotline that grows on you and consumes you. Robert Duvall, Bill Murray and Fast and Furious's Lucas Black nail it! A must watch!

I have now watched this movie three times. To say it has too much profanity does the movie a grave disservice. The point of the movie is this man is stuck in time. He is in the area between life and death. To him worrying about his language when he is clearly in such agony is beyond ridiculous.

This is a beautifully shot movie. I was struck again and again by the colors and the contrast. The narrative is slow and the ending is a bit anti-climatic but life is anti-climatic. That is the entire point. What would drive one person from society for forty years another person would be able to work through. This movie is about the details. And let me tell you this movie gets the details rights. Robert Duvall is the perfect choice for Felix. Bill Murray is perfect as the huckster with a heart of gold and Sissy Spacek hits all the right notes.

Don't watch this movie with expectations. Let the actors and directors take your hand and allow the movie to unfold before you. Just let it be and it will move you. It moved me.

My husband and I are very picky about movies but we liked this one a lot. There was too much profanity though. To learn how a person can become a hermit is clearly answered in this movie. Forty years is a long time to keep such a secret but his pain was so great that forty years was probably not enough.
