It was interesting to think about how "clueless" the king and queen of France were about what was happening to the country and to the common people. Is there a lesson to be learned here for our political leaders today?

Sofia Coppola has created a fun, entertaining film about this iconic and baffling queen. I especially enjoyed the quirks and the portrayal of opulence in dress, food, and rituals.

I enjoyed this movie but at the end felt unfulfilled. Yes, we know Marie Antoinette lived a life of excess and Louis the XVI was distant, but the audience can handle the portrayal of their ultimate end! No need to spare us the death scene, Miss Coppola. Entertainment value was exquisite, but historical value leaves you wanting for more. Nevertheless, part of my permanent collection.
