Movie Reviews

NBC isn't loyal to their shows or their viewers!

"Comedy Night isn't gonna be done right any more because NBC canceled My Name is Earl! I thought after all the hate mail for canceling Las Vegas on a cliffhanger in season 5 they would have learned their lesson, but no! Hell I think they even canceled Scrubs in it's last season as well when that show gave NBC a good 7 years. They weren't even going to give it's fans a series finale. If a show was on more than 2 years, than the viewers deserve a series finale! If Earl was going down in ratings they should have just gave it one more year to finish things up.

Earl earned NBC a few nominations, you'd think they would have respected it enough to not just cancel it. But if they didn't respect Scrubs and Medium "yes they canceled Medium too" after they earned NBC nominations too, then of course they'd give Earl the same treatment.

I don't think season 4 was the best season but it did have it's moments and I certainly didn't think it would get canceled or deserved to get canceled. With characters like Earl, Randy, Crabman and Joy and everyone that plays them in top form how could anyone just cancel this show just like that. It always bugged me when I tried to get a friend to watch it and they'd just say "it's a hick show, why the hell would I watch a boring hick show". Earl was way more than just a hick show. It was a brilliant show about a low life jerk who tries to help people who he has done wrong to in the past so better things would happen to him. There's not enough shows about people helping each other, hell I think Earl was the only one. In closing, don't even bother getting into NBC shows since they don't respect their shows or their viewers. I love Chuck but why even keep watching if that could get canceled in season 3 or 4 without even a series finale. NBC sucks!"
A much improved, but possibly final, season

"Season three of "My Name is Earl" was not all it should've been. The idea of Earl in prison sounds interesting and like something that should've yieled great comedy, but, as it turns out, not so much. You could tell even the producers knew it wasn't going to work, cause they moved quickly to get Earl out of prison. Sadly, due to the problems with season three, season four's ratings were less than great, and so we have what might be the final season of this wonderful show.

If the show does go down, at least it goes down on a high note. While not as good as season one, it was as good as season two. Earl began to refocus on finishing off list items, we got the full story behind Darnell and had a fun guest appearance by Betty White, who makes everything better. We also got to see more background stories on our favorite supporting charactes, which is always good.

Sadly the show ended its season on a cliffhanger. Not a good thing to do unless you know for sure the network is picking you up for the next season. Still, there is some hope. The show is produced by 20th Century Fox, so with luck the program will find a new home on Fox or possibly ABC. One can hope.

Meantime, at least we'll have the DVDs of this fine season to enjoy!"
Fantastic season. I'll really miss Earl.

"My Name Is Earl was the best show on network TV. It's a shame that NBC killed it. This DVD set shows what is, in my opinion, the second best season of the show's four season run. My only complaint is that none of the episodes have commentary! The commentaries were awesome on the other season's DVD sets. The Earl's Mail featurette is a nice addition for die hard fans of the show. It shows that the cast & crew really seemed to have great plans for the future of the show. All in all, I recommend this DVD set for people who have enjoyed other seasons of My Name is Earl. I hope there is a My Name Is Earl movie in the future."

"I think it is a disgrace that NBC cancelled this show when it would have lasted several more seasons. From the start it got great ratings as well as how many Emmy nominations. And to leave it just hanging without closure, what are you people thinking? You have the idea that people from SNL will save Thursday night viewing you must all be on drugs. Have you considered that us loyal fans who purchase the DVD's have probably made you enough money to pay for another season or 2. I was sickened when I saw your lineup, 30 Rock and the office are pretty stupid but bearable. You couldn't even find a decent follow up to Earl, You had the disaster "Kath and Kim" then another "Parks and Recreation". And to replace EARL with SNL weekend update, shame on you. What happened to the type of shows the audience cared about and made NBC #1 for years on Thursdays? From the start Stars looked forward to doing episodes of earl up until the end of season 4. I thought the episode with Betty White had me laughing all through it and is a classic. It's a shame that last year they didn't fire the NBC programmer and President like they do all the time so you are all living on borrowed time. Without viewers you have no ratings then no jobs. You need to bring back Earl or you're gonna lose your Thursday viewers, so Please bring it back for it's loyal viewers. We would watch Earl then put up with the other crap that followed, it was your hook. If you put Weekend Update on to start the night then have Jay Leno on prime time 5 days is suicide. If I wanted to watch Jay I would have watched at 11:35. Also have you considered your viewers with DVR's, Earl was recorded by many fans because it was so funny and went on so fast we had to watch it over and over. Take this into consideration and start production right away so you can put it back on when Weekend Update fails within a month and bring back your dramas and get rid of Jay Leno. Remember Johnny Carson knew when to retire and passed his crown down to Jay."
