Movie Reviews

Great DVD from a Great Band
A. Lindsay | Northern Ireland | 11/25/2004
(5 out of 5 stars)

"I watched this DVD last night and have to admit it is the best live DVD I have purchesed.

The set consists mainly of songs from the million selling album Final Straw, with a few older tracks thrown in for true fans.

Gary's performance is excellent as he holds the sold out crowd in the palm on his hands, whilst he belts out hits such as Chocolate, Spitting Games & the breakthrough single Run.

If you have ever caught the band live you will love this DVD, if you havnt this is a great chance to see what your missing.

The DVD is packed with features that are very entertaining.

If your considering buying this DVD just buy it you wont be disapointed!!!"

"don't be put off by 'mr. one star', this is a great music dvd. the sound is as good as you'd expect for a true live outdoor concert - pounding drums from johnny, complimenting guitar riffs, driving bass lines and some nice keys. as for the quick camera cuts, it's all about the music, not how cute they look, right? they blast through all the recent big hits and some excellent older stuff ('an olive grove...' a personal favorite). they even employ an orchestra for some beautiful strings bringing a fullness to the songs. the band is in top form, really enjoying the show with gary having a laugh throughout.

these ulster boys are on great form in the various video diaries from the usa and japan tours, plus there's some great footage of a trip home to belfast. (anyone know how to get the full 4film documentary?)

overall, an excellent concert and superb extras, well worth buying. good stuff."
Great live music DVD...video is nauseating

"Great band that delivers a great live show. I read the reviews and I agree with the people that didn't think much of the million video clips but I would recommend this DVD dispite that. It costs about the same as a CD anyway and you still get to see the band having fun playing to a really good crowd in a great setting. In my opinion, a live DVD of a favorite band adds to the entertainment value over a CD by being able to watch the talent of the musicians playing their instruments and seeing how it all comes together. This DVD misses a lot of that because of the quick clips but it is still great to put in for a party. This band rocks overall and in the long run...it's all about the music."
They're Great!!!

"I almost didn't get this because of some of the negative reviews I'd read--but I am so glad I did. The cutting IS herky-jerky but that takes about 3 seconds to get used to--the thing is--this band is great to watch and they are terrific live. If you've ever seen them live--relive it with this DVD, if you haven't seen them yet--prepare by watching it. Good sound, great songs."
