Tobe! Isami
Barry W. Cantin | Metairie, LA | 12/01/2004
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Originally released in Japan as "Tobe! Isami", this show is about a fifth grade girl (Isami) who has just moved with her mother to live with her grandfather. She meets two other boys at her school (Toshi and Soshi) and soon find out that they are all descendants of the Shinengumi clan... who some years ago were fighting the "Black Goblins" (a group of bad guys!). The Shinengumi were inventors, and left a cache of nice little inventions to help the kids carry on the fight some generations later. Kei, Toshi's little brother, joins the group and helps out too. I was surprised that this one was brought over from Japan, but I was even more surprised when I liked it! It's one of my "hidden anime gems", and I recommend it very highly."
Isami is great!

"I watch this with my daughters and we are all delighted. It's silly and funny and the artwork is fantastic. We even sing the Japanese theme song together. It's a really catchy tune even if we have no idea what it means (except for the "Isami" part).

An anime masterpiece

"This series is, unfortunately, not to talked about. But it's absolutely great. Everyone in the family, from kids to adults, should love it."
