Best Performance Video

"This is a great guitar dvd for anyone that likes guitar music, but if you know someone who plays guitar, you'd be safe to get them this dvd - it is sure to become a delight in their collection. This is amazing. It is a guitar player's dream performance dvd. First, the sound mix is wonderful - clean, crisp, blended so well - (the performance in the closed session is the best, or rather, the mix is so perfect in those sessions that it's like being there personally in the front row - you get lost in it.) Second, the filming style was beyond my expectations. The attention to getting right up on the hands while performers are playing is the best I've ever seen. It's so clear, that if you're fast enough, you could play along on the parts - no quessing, no shadows, nothing is missed as the lead moves from one player to the other - the camera is right on it. This is a 60 minute dvd, but feels like just a moment out of time - it's so enjoyable, you can't believe it's over already! There is also a nice interview set on how the players met and their background and influences.

I had bought this because I saw a session of Strunz & Farah on a PBS special and had become interested in their comments about doing their own sound mixing on their cds and so forth and wanted to hear more. I could not be more pleased with the dvd. I believed it would be good, but it's beyond that - a real gem."
We finally get to SEE their amazing ability & technique!

"For those of us who don't live near California or Texas, it's highly unlikely that we'll ever get to see the incredible Strunz & Farah tour in person, therefore this DVD is worth its weight in gold. As a guitarist, I've always been mesmerized by their amazing ability & technique and absolutely dying to see it performed. Musically, this DVD is outstanding. The percussion section is superb, and the violinist is out of this world. His style and ability are a perfect complement to S&F. If they ever produce another DVD, I have three suggestions: 1.) make it two hours (compared to 60 minutes for this one) with one full hour in a similar setting & a second full hour of playing their classics live - that would be a perfect balance, 2.) don't do the cheesy black-&-white-fade-to-color shots, and 3.) don't lock onto the percussionists too long, especially when Strunz or Farah are into a fiery scale/arpeggio. Ignoring those minor points, buy this DVD - it will blow you away every time you watch it."
Amazing Guitar Virtuosos

"If you are lucky enough to live near a city where Strunz and Farah perform, go see them. If you are not, buy this DVD! If you have seen them live, then you know what incredible performers they are and you should buy the DVD as well! Their dazzling command of the guitar is amazing to see. The incredible speed and tight synchronization of their runs cannot be explained with mere words. It is truly incredible. The DVD format, where they play all but 2 songs without an audience, truly captures the beauty of their music and allows you to see and hear every note played. Strunz and Farah are the most incredible guitar duo in the world, bar none. Prepare yourself to be amazed."
Phenomenal DVD! Captures the essence and genius of S&F!!!

"'Espi' has NO IDEA what he is talking about! This is a great DVD, and I applaud the 'purity of sound' that Jorge and Ardeshir strive for by recording this in an acoustically excellent space with NO live audience! Remember, a live audience adds noise to a recording. As far as i'm concerned, as an audiophile, this is an IDEAL arrangement for recording subtly gorgeous music like this!!! Now mind you, there are 2 songs that were captured live on this DVD as well, for those of you who are 'live performance fans'. I also think the descriptions of the songs by Jorge and the brief interviews are excellent as well. My ONLY complaint, and it is a minor one, given the excellent quality of this disc, is that it should have been a bit longer in total program time. They could have easily put another 3 to 5 songs on this, making it equal to most concert DVD lengths. All in all though, an excellent first time DVD release by these guitar masters! The rest of the band is fantastic as well, providing clockwork percussion, bass, and violins to complement Strunz & Farah's style. If you are a fan of world class, nylon string acoustic latin and flamenco tinged guitar, this DVD is a MUST!"
