Movie Reviews

It's was good, but i expected more
syco kid_HBK | cali and nebraska | 07/07/2006
(4 out of 5 stars)

"i thought it would have been a stiff competition for wrestlemania, but not even close, but is a must see or must rent video, now let me give u the rundown

1)Team USA (Shelley, Lethal, Dutt) VS Team Japan (Black Tiger, Tanaka, and Goto)
it was a great entertaining non-stop action match, but from miscommunication with shelley, japan wins-4/5

2)christopher daniels vs ???
it turns out to be, formely know as lo-ki, senshi. it was kind of a boring match with some good spots, and senshi uses the ropes to pick up the victory- 2.5/5

3)arm wrestling contest- bullet bob armstrong with james gang vs konnan with LAX
ya like this one would be any good, and the loser gets whipped along with the team. konnan can't beat the old man so him and LAX get whipped, but there was humor when B.G. accidentally said billy to kip when whipping to early, and tenay says he jumped the gunn- 0/5

4)ultimate xscape match- sabin vs williams vs shark boy vs skipper vs stevens vs (japan) puma
it was a pretty good match, shark boy had to all the work in the begenning and was first eliminated, and funny stuff with d'more and simon, and nice shooting star from stevens off the cage. sabin and williams are last two left and sabin escapes and wins- 3/5

5)x-division title- (champ) samoa joe vs sabu
it was the return and last show for sabu who had a broken arm, partly chopped off finger and partially scalped head, so that's why the match was short. sabu used his chair tactics of throwing, leg drops, triple jump moonsaults, and also tried to use screwdriver or sonme kind of foreign weapon, but backfired and he gets bloodied up, and in the end got mustlebustered from the top rope and samoa joe wins-3.5/5

6)anthem match- Team 3D (brothr ray, d-von, runt) vs team canada (roode, young, a-1)
ok match, tables were involved which were cool, and 3D end up capturing the US flag-3.5/5

7)NWA title- (champ)christian cage vs abyss
this is one of the greatest matches i ever seen. they first battle outside the ring. then u see christian do the frog splash from the top of the cage, ref out, but abyss kicks out. the blackhole slam connects but christian kicks out. so abyss brings in tacks, but backfires when christian does a sunset flip bomb into the tacks to abyss and he kicks out again. abyss brings in two bags of tacks and backfires again when he gets unprettiered into them and christian finally wins. but then abyss chokes out christian with a chain and steals his belt- 5/5

8)lethal lockdown match- sting's warriors (sting, styles, truth, rhino) vs jeff's army (jarrett, steiner, AMW (tag champs)
order they came out- storm and aj, harris, rhino, jarrett, truth, steiner, sting- then the top came down with trash can lids, singapore canes, chairs, lead pipe, guitar, bat. sting got a stinger splash on everyone stacked up in the corner, steiner belly to bellyed and t-boned suplexed all, they did the tower of doom- aj getting double suplexed by harris and jarrett and the truth and rhino back dropped them with steiner and sting with the electric chair and storm powerbombed them/ it was hard for the camera to catch all the action when harris and aj went to the top, u can't see it but can tell truth did the axe kick on a chair and rhyno gets a gore in and everyone is battling to the death and aj puts harris on a table, they're on the outside on the top, and sets up a ladder and is all the way to the top of the building and does a splash all the way down, crashing through harris. storm tries for a scorpian deathlock on sting for the finish but sting reverses and storm taps out, and sting and his team prevail in a hellacious battle- 5/5

u don't have to buy it but the 2 main events are must sees for any wrestling fan, so if u have to buy it, so be it, i wouldn't but i spent more on ppv, so there

The return of the all cage ppv!
the one and only | I live south of Parts Unknown | 07/04/2006
(4 out of 5 stars)

"TNA Lockdown 2006 did not dissapoint. You had the first ever meeting between Sabu and Samoa Joe, Sting and Scott Steiner returned to ppv after a long abscence, Low Ki returned, and some five star matches took place. I always love the six sides of steel matches, and these were some of the best!

Team Japan vs. Team USA:
Team Japan consisted of: Black Tiger, Minoru Tanaka, and Hirooki Goto. Team USA consisted of: Sonjay Dutt, Jay Lethal, and Alex Shelley. Wild match that really got the crowd hyped up for the rest of the evening. Some fast paced moves including; all three members of Team Japan hitting dropkicks to Sonjay Dutt's head at the same time! Alex Shelley accidentally hits Dutt with a superkick which allows Team Japan to win the match. 8/10 [Fast paced during most of the match]

Christopher Daniels vs. Senshi:
It was cool seeing Daniels face his former XXX partner Shenshi [who was Low Ki] Some technical wrestling in this one, and a lot of chops by Shenshi on Daniels as he is in the corner. The crowd was really into this match, especially seeing two XXX members fight each other. In the end Daniels tries to go for the Angel's Wings, but Shenshi hits a Back Body Drop and uses his feet on the ropes for the win. 8/10 [Some really cool moves in this one]

Arm Wrestling Contest
Konnan with LAX vs. "Bullet" Bob Armstrong with The James Gang:
To me, this was a waste of time, although it was funny in some places. Armstrong wins and after the match the James Gang whips LAX which was the stipulation for the losers of the match. [Not a wrestling match so no score]

Xscape Match
Cris Sabin vs. Elix Skipper vs. Petey Williams vs. Shark Boy vs. Chase Stevens vs. Puma:
The way this match went was that if you were pinned or submitted you were eliminated. The last two men remaining had to exscape the cage in order to win.
Shark Boy is the first to go after Williams hit the Canadian Destroyer. Some intense moments such as counter holds and high flying moves including Chase Stevens climbing to the top of the cage and hitting a shooting star press off the cage onto everyone below, causing the crowd to go nuts!

A funny moment right after Skipper was eliminated where he was tossed out of the door of the cage and landed right on Simon Diamond, his tag team partner who was at ringside. At the end of the match the remaining men are Sabin and Petey Williams. The two now had to escape the cage in order to win. Both men climb the cage and fall off to the floor, but Williams lands on the shoulders of Scott D'Amore, and Sabin falls to the floor and wins the match. 9/10 [Some great moments in this one.]

X Division Championship Match
Samoa Joe [Champion] vs. Sabu:
To be honest I was surprised that this was so short, but I think it was because Sabu had injured his arm a few days before. This was still a great match, just not a real memorable one. Some highlights include Sabu using a steel chair to crack Joe in the head a couple of times. Then Joe throws Sabu head first into the cage, busting Sabu wide open. In the end Joe throws a chair into the head of Sabu and then connects with the Muscle Buster for the win. 8.5/10 [And to think Sabu did not tap out to Samoa Joe with an injured arm but did to John Cena.....shame on you WWE]

Anthem Match
The Dudley Boyz vs. Team Canada:
I know they're called Team 3d in TNA, but I am still going to call them The Dudley Boyz no matter what wrestling promotion they are in...
Anyway this was an okay match. The way a team had to win was to capture the flag in the opposite corner and bring it back to their side. The ref gets knocked down as the Dudley Boyz grab their flag, and Team Canada takes the advantage. In the end Team Canada sets up a table in the cage but Eric Young misses a splash on Spike Dudley and crashes through the table! The Dudley Boyz grab their flag as the ref comes to and they win the match. 8/10

NWA World Championship Match
Christain Cage [Champion] vs. Abyss:
I want Abyss to be world champion one day, and he came soo close in this match. This was a really good match, a lot of sick spots. Abyss powerbombs Christain right into the side of the steel cage, Christain then ducks a clothesline and Abyss takes out the referee!
Christain then hits a frog splash off the top of the cage onto Abyss! [Sort of like Eddie Guerrero/JBL from June 2004] Abyss brings his bag of tacks into the ring but Christain countered, and hit a sunset flip off the ropes onto Abyss into the tacks! Abyss kicks out and gets a second bag of tacks but Christain counters and hits the Unprettier onto Abyss onto the second pile of tacks for the win! 9.5/10 [Brutal, exciting match]

[After the match Abyss and James Mitchell beat up Cage and walk away with his title belt.]

Lethal Lockdown Match
Jeff Jarret, Scott Steiner, and America's Most Wanted
vs.
Sting, AJ Styles, Ron "The Truth" Killings, and Rhino:
This was a very unique match, one of the best of the night. First Chris Harris and Aj Styles would start the match, then every two minutes either a member of Jarret's or Sting's army would enter to help their team. When the final member entered, the roof of the cage would lower, along with a cache of weapons hanging from it.

As soon as the roof was lowered, that's when the real excitement started. Weapons included: Trash Cans, Kendo Sticks, Chairs, Trash Can Lids, Tables, Ladders, and even Guitars. A really sick moment as Aj and Chris Harris fight on the roof of the cage and Harris is set up on a table as AJ climbs a tall ladder on top of the cage. AJ even hangs from the ceiling lights and comes down on Harris through the table on top of the cage! Great moment! In the end Sting makes Harris tap out to the Scorpion Deathlock and wins the match. 10/10

This was a great ppv, I recommend this for the Lethal Lockdown, Christain/Abyss match, Xscape match, and Sabu/Joe match. Buy this dvd when it comes out,

Highly recommended..."

"Team U.S.A.: Alex Shelley, Jay Lethal, & Sonjay Dutt Vs. Team Japan: Minoru Tanaka, Black Tiger, & Hirooki Goto (World X Cup Preview Match) - This was a really good choice to open the show up as it got the crowd on their feet. These six performers went very fast paced delivering solid, back and forth action. Great match as it did its job. 3.5/5

Christopher Daniels Vs. Senshi - This was a battle between the former Triple X teammates. Daniels & Senshi went out there and put on more of a ground based, technical match instead of a high flying, fast paced match they normally put on being in the X Division. This was a good match as the crowd became more into it as the match progressed. Daniels & Senshi fought hard and they delivered a really good match. 4/5

Konnan w/L.A.X. Vs. "Bullet" Bob Armstrong w/The James Gang (Arm Wrestling Contest) - The winner of this contest would give their opposition 10 lashings from a leather belt. Quite honestly though, this was a waste between two of the best tag teams in TNA (at the time). It might be entertaining to some of you but to me this was an absolute waste. 1/5

Petey Williams Vs. Chris Sabin Vs. Elix Skipper Vs. Chase Stevens Vs. Puma Vs. Shark Boy (Xscape Match) - First of all, the Xscape Match rules are that participants in the match are eliminated by pinfalls or submission until two are left where they must climb over the top of the cage to floor to win. This Xscape Match contains some good X Division action & also has a lot of good and entertaining moments in it such as Petey Williams & Scott D'AMore (Team Canada's manager at the time) pulling a quick one over on Elix Skipper & Simon Diamond, Chase Stevens pulling off a Shooting Star Press from the top of the cage but would fall face first onto the ring canvas, a wrestling exchange from Petey Williams & Chris Sabin, Shark Boy being the first eliminated by Petey Williams' Canadian Destroyer (as it is always a sight to see), & the ending as Scott D'Amore accidently costed Petey the match. Overall, this match was great for a X Division Xscape Match. 4/5

X Division Champion Samoa Joe Vs. Sabu - The only problem with this match is that it was way too short for what these two are capable of in this kind of match environment. Though, Sabu had an injured forearm so maybe that was why the match was cut short. However, Sabu & Samoa Joe gave a good performance for the short time they were in the Six Sides Of Steel together. Samoa Joe's roll in the match was to prove that he was indeed the most dominate X Division Champion ever as he nearly walked over Sabu in this match. Though not a bad match surrounding the circumstances, it still could have been much better. 3.25/5

Team 3D Vs. Team Canada (Anthem Match) - This match did not catch my attention whatsoever. The match was the total opposite of what I expected it to be & it did not deliver at all for me. Just disappointing in my eyes. 2.5/5

NWA Heavyweight Champion Christian Cage Vs. Abyss - This World Title Match is really good. Christian & Abyss firstly starts the match outside of the cage and fights into the crowd for a little while until Christian & Abyss makes their way back to ringside & then the match begins. Christian's & Abyss' battle in the Six Sides Of Steel was a great one. Christian can always put on a good match with whoever he is in the ring with & that's no exception here. Christian's Frog Splash onto Abyss from the top of the cage is somthing to see. Tacks gets introduced into the match as well where it would only cost Abyss the match. Bottomline, this was a great battle for the NWA World Title. 4.5/5

Sting's Warriors: Sting, A.J. Styles, Ron Killings, & Rhino Vs. Jarrett's Army: Jeff Jarrett, Scott Steiner, & America's Most Wanted (Lethal Lockdown Match) - Firstly, Lethal Lockdown rules are similiar to the old WCW War Games Match rules. two individuals from each team starts the match for a 5 minute time period and from there at ever 2 minutes, one teammate from each team alternates in entering the match and once all the individuals enters the match from both teams, a roof is lowered ontop of the cage with weapons suspending from the top and from there a team can only win by pinfall or submission. This match only continued Sting's mission to get rid of Jeff Jarrett from TNA. The crowd was in anticipation for the roof to be lowered from the start and when it was, it brought excitement to everyone. A.J. Styles was the one who stole the match with his dive from the cieling to James Storm through a table ontop of the roof. This was a great main event & a perfect way to end the show. 4.75/5

Overall, Lockdown was a good TNA event with it only containing one dud. This event is recommended."
