Help Center - Do I have to have credits and SwapaDVD money to put DVDs on my Wish List?

Search Terms:

No, but if you have no credits or SwapaDVD money in your account, two things can happen if one of your Wish List DVDs becomes available for you to request:

  1. If the Wish was set to Auto Request you will be skipped over, but you will remain in your position in the Wish List queue for that DVD. The DVD will be auto-requested when the DVD next becomes available and you have the necessary credit(s), and $0.49 SwapaDVD money, in your account.
  2. If the Wish was on 48 Hour Offer, you will be given 48 hours to deposit the needed credit(s) and $0.49 SwapaDVD money. If you fail to make the necessary deposit(s), you will forfeit your place in line for that DVD.

SwapaDVD reserves the right to remove the 48 Hour Offer option on a member-by-member basis for those who abuse it.

What does it mean "to abuse" the 48 Hour Offer? Members who repeatedly and consistently cancel 48 Hour Offers or let them expire without depositing the necessary credits cause unnecessary delays for other members. How would you feel if you posted a popular DVD and the first three members in line all let their 48 Hour Offer expire without depositing credits? A week has passed and you're still holding a DVD that many members want and are willing to pay you a credit for it.

You don't have to have enough credits to cover everything on your Wish List because all the DVDs are not likely to be posted at the same time. But it is a good idea to keep a few credits and a little SwapaDVD money in your account at all times, especially if you have an active Wish List. You never know when a Wish List DVD may become available!

You should have both credits and SwapaDVD money if you choose to set Wish List items to "auto-request", especially if you use this feature while you are away from your computer/email for more than 48 hours.
