Just a heads up: the PaperBackSwap, SwapaCD and SwapaDVD sites will be down for system maintenance Wednesday morning, 10/11/2017, starting around 7 AM ET.

So, if you're planning Wednesday mailings, you might want to print your postage and mark your items mailed on Tuesday night. We expect things to be up and running again before noon or sooner. We'll be as quick as we can!

As of today, July 6th, 2016, there will be a minimum price for DVD Credits sold between members of $3 per credit.

You are free to buy and sell DVD Credits as always, but you may NOT sell or buy them for less than $3.00 per DVD Credit.

• That also means you may not offer or ask for goods (for example, Gift Cards) that work out to less than $3 per DVD Credit.

This change is meant to keep the club healthy and working for everyone.

Members who become aware of any infractions should contact us ASAP.  FYI - the rule will be strictly enforced!

This policy goes into effect in all three sites today.

Nope.  Not OK.  It seems very obvious that this would not be OK - perhaps that's why it was not spelled out in the Rules topic. Now it is.

Members must NOT ask for Wish Listed items for which they are not #1 in line.

Pornography is not permitted on our site. As stated in the Terms of Use, when you sign up for our site:

"You agree not to post or ship any items of a sexually explicit, pornographic, or obscene nature. X-rated material is specifically prohibited."

We have filters in place to prevent pornographic listings from appearing on our site, but occassionally, some make through our filters. That does not make those items postable! If you see listings for pornography in our system, PLEASE contact feedback to have them removed. We try very hard to keep this material out of the system, but unfortunately, our filters cannot block every instance.

Kristen, "The Beast" is not considered pornography and is okay to trade on the site. It is also okay to assume that the requestor is 18 since all members are required to confirm that they are at least 18 years old when they register.

They are both experienced Bazaar users and members who are reliable authorities on the rules here. You can look to them for friendly advice if you have questions about using the DVD Bazaar. If you are new to the Bazaar, the Bazaar Czars can help you get started. **Please keep in mind that the "Rules for Swapping in the Bazaar" thread should address most of the questions and concerns you may have regarding the DVD Bazaar. Please consult that thread before contacting the Czars.**

The Czars will provide gentle but firm direction if there is rulebreaking. Please respect the Czars' requests and adhere to the rules they have been asked by the SwapaDVD Team to enforce.

Our database provider will occasionally remove titles from the database. We are not told when this will happen or why this happens. Sometimes it is removed temporarily and then returned a few days later. This typically happens with newer releases or DVDs that have not yet been released. The good news is that we are holding your place in line and your accumulated points for this DVD. When (or if) it is added back to the database, the listing will appear again on your Wish List, but on Hold. You will keep your same position in line, but you will need to check to see when it returns so that you can take it off of Hold. We apologize for the confusion this may cause. Luckily it happens very rarely, but now you will know why a DVD seems to have "disappeared".

P.S. We are aware of the mysterious "A"s problem. We read the discussion forums constantly, so we understand how annoying those suckers are. We'll have them gone as soon as possible!

We never gave the green light for an even trade. Here is our word for word response to Karyn's feedback:

Dear Karyn, Yes, you can definitely post directly to another member's Wish List (on a limited basis). You just can't do 1-for-1 DVD trades with postable DVDs in the Bazaar. Thanks so much for checking with us- we understand you did not intentionally try to break any rules. Also, please understand our Tour Guides are volunteers who do a great job helping us out by making the rules clear to other members. They aren't out to ruin anyone's day! We can't be everywhere at once, so we really rely on Tour Guides to help out in certain aspects like this. If there is anything else we can do for you, please feel free to contact us. Thank you for being a Charter Member of the best DVD club in America. Please tell everyone who enjoys watching movies about our club, because the more members we have the more DVDs for everyone to trade! We hope this information is helpful. Have a great day! One-for-one trades are not allowed.

It is common practice to wait and mark the DVD AFTER watching it. Then, if the DVD is damaged, the requestor can mark it 'Received with a Problem'. We understand there isn't always time to watch the movie immediately, but we ask members to at least try to scan through the DVD on fast forward (many members have found that any skips will be noticeable scanning this way) before marking 'Received'--especially if the disc has visible scratches. Of course, we expect members to mark the DVD 'Received' as promptly as possible so the sender doesn't have to wait for the credit, but it is absolutely reasonable to watch the DVD first. Try to watch and mark the DVD within a few days of receiving it, or less if the system action date is near.

You did the right thing to let the sender know the DVD had arrived. You sent a courteous message, and unfortunately, the sender was misinformed.

To those of you who had problems getting a text box to appear, we have fixed the bug! You shouldn't have any trouble getting a text box now. We are still working on the other problem--the drop-you-to-the-bottom-of-the-page problem--because it is a problem with the editor itself, and not our site. We'll have it fixed as soon as possible.

Now that your text boxes are here, feel free to play around a little!

We try to make your current position in line as accurate as possible. To make the number accurate we do not count members in front of you if they have their Wish on Auto Request but do not have enough SwapaDVD credits. The reason for this is that they will be passed over in line while they do not have enough credits to request. For this reason, you can appear to move backwards or forwards when another member is low on credits, but then earns credits or purchases credits to replenish their account. Also, when members go on Vacation Hold and their Wish is on 48 Hour Offer they are not counted.  When they return they are counted again. The reason for this is that the 48 Hour Offers do not occur while you are on Vacation but your DVDs on Auto Request will still be requested.

Of course, it is also possible that a member ahead of you received a damaged or wrong DVD, or the DVD was lost, and therefore he/she would be returned to the original position in the Wish List line. We have tried to make your current position as accurate as possible at any point in time but doing so means that it will have slight fluctuations.

Thanks largely to a generous contribution from one of our members, all credits Frank took from members without providing the promised DVDs have been returned to the members.  You should see this in your Credit Registry, linked from the top of your My Account main page.

If we missed anyone (if you gave Frank credits and didn't get the items, and didn't get the credits back tonight), please send in feedback and let us know and we'll check the record.

The UPC must be the original, manufacturer's UPC on the case to post your DVD here. This is because legally we have to be able to prove the DVD is not an illegal copy. If the UPC is a sticker or cut-out unattached to the case, there is no way for us to be sure it came with that particular copy of the DVD. It's a little technicality that keeps our site running smoothly and legally.

We took care of this particular case, but for the record:

All discs in a set are worth one credit, as long as there is unique content on each disc. CDs that come with DVDs are worth a credit. Digital copies are not worth a credit because they contain the same content as the DVD.

If you come across a disc with the wrong disc count, contact us. We'll verify it and submit the change. DO NOT POST A DVD IF THE DISC COUNT DOESN'T MATCH THE ONE IN OUR DATABASE! It will save everyone involved a lot of trouble.
